  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) February 16, 2013 - M. Lynn Prichard, Mathematics Teacher and Subject Area Leader at Roland Park K-8 Magnet School for International Studies, has been selected as a VIP Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes M. Lynn Prichard's commitment to excellence in Education.

    M. Lynn Prichard began teaching in 1976 in Australia. In 1986, she moved to the US and began teaching elementary school aged children. She currently teaches mathematics to sixth graders, which include gifted and advanced students as well as special education students.

In addition to teaching her students, Prichard also serves as the math subject area leader for the school responsible for disseminating district information to the math department, keeping track of inventory, and disaggregating the school test data.

"When I was in elementary school I had a sixth grade teacher, Dr. Huntington, who had high expectations for all her students," Prichard said. "She pushed us all to excel and do our very best. During my high school years I realized that she was the one who inspired me to be a better student and person. It was then that I decided I wanted to have that same influence on other students."

Recently, Prichard has been selected to be one of twenty Fellows to participate in the Tampa Bay Robert Noyce Master Teacher Fellows Program, a joint venture between the University of South Florida (USF) and Hillsborough County Public Schools. This is a five-year program. Fellows will prepare to assume leadership roles within their school and district to support and mentor beginning and veteran teachers, as well as being part of USF's teacher education program to support prospective teachers of mathematics or science.

Prichard currently holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Kean University, a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from National Louis University, and is a National Board Certified Teacher in Adolescent Science. She hopes to further improve her practice and inspire other children to make a difference in the world and also hopes to begin mentoring others to help them reach their goals.
