  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) April 28, 2013 - Jennifer Long, Special Education Teacher at Webster Elementary School, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Jennifer Long's commitment to excellence in Education.

Jennifer Long's career in education began in 2006 at The New England Center for Children, where she was provided with extensive training and the opportunity to pursue her master's degree in education. In 2011, she began working in the Everett Public Schools system teaching in the Autism Spectrum Disorder substantially separate preschool classroom.

Currently responsible for implementing the Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for each of the students in her classroom, Ms. Long also monitors for progress through data collection and observation, teaches students academic skills, social skills, and self-help skills using Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques. She works collaboratively with many therapists, develops and implements behavior plans, and provides the necessary training needed for her paraprofessionals on how to work with her students. Most importantly, she maintains a clean, organized, safe classroom for the students, and all parents are provided with weekly newsletters and daily parent-teacher communication books.

"I am inspired daily by the progress my students make," Ms. Long said about her students. "Nothing they do is too small. For them, the small steps toward progress are huge. I enjoy seeing them gain independence and self-confidence as they move forward."

Looking forward to her many more years in the profession, Ms. Long is passionate about continuing to develop as a teacher. She is considering pursing a second degree in ABA and being able to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analysis licensure exam. She is also interested in completing the Pyramid Education Picture Exchange Communication System training.

Ms. Long earned her BS in Psychology from Avila University in 2007, followed by a MEd in Special Education from Simmons College in 2010. She is certified as a special education teacher for grades PreK-12, is certified to teach the severe and profound, is a qualified ABA trainer, and is also certified in infant, child, and adult Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automatic External Defibrillation use and first aid. She's a current member with Council for Exceptional Children, National Education Association, Highrock Community Church, Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and Girl Scouts of America.
