Covington Who's Who Selects Corie Botticelli as an Honored Member of the Executive and Professional Registry

- Stamford-Norwalk, CT (1888PressRelease) October 26, 2012 - Corie Botticelli, Retired Teacher, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.
Botticelli, who holds a MS in Mathematics Education with honors from Richmond College, began teaching in 1972 for the New York City Department of Education as a mathematics teacher. She worked for eleven years before leaving the classroom to pursue a career in social work, but after just a few years she realized how much she missed it.
Having taught Regents Math, Botticelli was also a staff developer and testing coordinator, and ran a Title 1 Mathematics Center for two non-public schools. As a homeroom teacher, she was responsible for all clerical work, including daily attendance, section sheets, report cards, record cards, and class schedules. She did daily lesson plans for five classes and created tests, mid-terms, and finals.
"It was my job to educate my students," Botticelli explained. "I would re-teach that topic using manipulatives, the computer, or games, to impart the information."
Viewing her success as the end result of years of critical reflection, action research, and best practices, Botticelli's years as a coach and teacher still presented her with many challenges. But through those challenges, she learned trust building, listening skills, and problem solving. She hopes to soon teach at the college level, something she finds very alluring.
