  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) March 09, 2014 - C. Edward Hupton, Composer, Educator, and Staff Member at The Diller-Quaile School of Music in NYC has been selected as a Featured Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes C. Edward Hupton's commitment to excellence in Music Education.

    C. Edward Hupton, who holds both a Bachelor's and Master's in Piano Performance, from Drake University and New England Conservatory of Music, respectively, and has continued study in Barcelona, Spain, Washington, DC, and Iowa State University, began taking piano lessons at the age of six and accordion lessons at seven. By the time he was 10 he had played at numerous birthday parties, county and state fairs, and on radio and weekly television shows, most of which were paid performances.

Mr. Hupton has since performed at a variety of genres, including restaurants, lounges, and concerts, as well as in music faculty positions teaching piano, theory, composition, and music history at several colleges. He specializes in classical, popular, and early jazz music and is now serving as accompanist for Early Childhood classes with the Diller-Quaile School of Music in NYC.
"My diverse musical interests and eclectic repertoire have inspired me to explore numerous avenues as a performer, composer, and teacher," Mr. Hupton said.

Noting that some 60% of his fellow graduates of music have ventured into other professions and vocations, Mr. Hupton feels fortunate to have been able to sustain a career with a profession that presents so many challenges. He thanks his father for giving him inspiration and encouragement during his early years.

Having performed concerts at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York City, Mr. Hupton is well known for his all-Gershwin recitals, Ragtime/Harlem Stride concerts, programs of Latin American Music with Soprano Elizabeth Acosta and "A Tribute to Duke Ellington" with Vocalist Veronica Schoenewolf. His compositions have been recorded in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and the US and have been broadcasted in over 40 countries. He is a member of American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers, American Composers Forum, Freelancers Union, Long Island Composers, National Association of Railroad Passengers, New York State Railroad Passengers Association, and Midwest High Speed Rail Association. He's also written and published a book through Belwin-Mills in 1989 entitled 'Music Pictures Volumes I and II, Compositions with Other Composers'.
