Cordia Launches first Vocational Skills Training Institute in collaboration with VTCT of UK

  • (1888PressRelease) April 20, 2012 - Among those attending the opening of the Institute along with Lord Rana, Founder and Funder of the CEC, would be the Chairman of VTCT, Dr Stephen Vickers, and their Director of Business Development, Mr. Nic Robinson. Other Guests would include Harvinder Atwal, Director, BKSB, UK, Mr John English, Education and Training Manager, BKSB, Ms. Mandeep Singh, Regional Advisor India for BKSB, Ms Tracey Eisen, Operations Director, Rutledge and their Business Development Consultant for India Ms. Joan Reilly.

    The Program will commence on the afternoon of 28th and will finish around 4 PM
    Senior officials from FICCI are also expected to present and would be looking to promote skills training in India. According to FICCI, India is expected to be home to a skilled workforce of 500 million by 2022. About 12 million persons are expected to join the workforce every year. This talent pool needs to be adequately skilled and would be critical to drive the growth of the economy as well as play a significant role in employment.


    The vocational skills training courses will be taught in affiliation with the Vocational Training Charitable Trust, UK (VTCT) and will initially offer 2 courses in Beauty Therapy and Hairdressing and barbering. The courses would be of 6 months duration commencing from July 2012 and would teach a batch of 25 students to begin with. This all new and modern Institute has been created under the professional guidance of VTCT Senior officials, Ms Runa McNamara and Donna Waugh and under the technical guidance of Ms Bhavna Champaneri, project coordinator for CIVT.

    All courses at CIVT will be taught by Staff who have been specially trained in delivering these courses under guidance from VTCT. The Institute will offer both training and commercial services in two separate sections.
