  • (1888PressRelease) May 21, 2013 - Local communications and IT company Commstel Limited have made it through to the shortlist of a fiercely fought regional business competition.

They will learn whether they've clinched the title for St Alban's Business of the Year category of the Small Businesses Hertfordshire Business Awards 2013 next month at a gala dinner in the Shendish Manor Hotel.

Run by the Federation of Small Business (FSB), the competition is open to all new and established local entrepreneurs and business owners in Hertfordshire. Winners receive a first prize of £10,000.

Commstel Director Charlie Harris said: "We are absolutely delighted to have made the finals of the St Alban's Business Awards category, especially considering this is the first year we've entered and were up against so many other innovative and flourishing businesses in Hertfordshire. To make the short-list in itself is just fantastic.

"As a company we're always happy to help businesses hone their technology and get up and running as smoothly as possible. Communications and IT is crucial for businesses these days - a company can't survive without it. New technology is developing at such a rate that it's important to keep on top of trends in order to benefit from the latest inter-related communication packages and cost-saving measures.

"At Commstel our philosophy is to enable companies to work smarter, not harder."

Specialising in telephone services such as line rental and broadband, Commstel helps new and existing businesses work out the most cost-effective and efficient communications technology needs for them by tailoring a solution specific to their individual aims. This includes a fully-customised call plan and 30-day rolling contracts rather than tying customers in to two or five year deals.

Other services on offer from Commstel, who were established two years ago, include Fibre and Ethernet Connectivity, VoIP, Servers, Hosting, Domain names, SMS Services and Software design. Commstel also offers an extensive array of mobile and data solutions with all of the major UK networks for use with Blackberry, HTC, Samsung, Android and Apple handsets.

Sponsors of the Small Businesses Hertfordshire Business Awards 2013 competition - whose winners will be announced on Thursday, June 13 - include The Hertfordshire Business Independent and Herts & Essex Newspapers.
