  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) August 11, 2011 - Cloudsoft Corporation, a provider of cloud computing software and services that drive Intelligent Application Mobility, today announced they have appointed Erik Troan to join the strategic advisory board. Formed in 2010, the board continues to help shape Cloudsoft's strategy and support the executive team as it looks to build on the company's increasing momentum delivering enterprise class application platforms.

Troan brings a distinguished background in Linux based product engineering originating from his role as first engineer at Red Hat Software. He later served as Vice President Product Engineering and also held positions as Senior Director of Marketing and Chief Developer where he spearheaded the development of today's prominently used programs Red Hat Linux, RPM and Anaconda. In addition, Troan managed a multimillion-dollar budget, participated in two public stock offerings and the acquisition and integration of nine companies. Most recently, Troan founded the virtual appliance creation and management provider rPath which facilitates internal and external cloud deployments for enterprise. He has also authored two editions of Linux Application Development.

Spending for IT cloud services is expected to increase significantly over the next few years estimated by IDC industry analysts to reach $72.9 Billion in 2015, validating Cloudsoft's continued support of companies to meet application mobility needs and manage successful cloud initiatives. Linux's popularity and customer satisfaction has grown steadily and deemed valuable for specialized applications and datacenter deployments.

"The market continues to shift towards flexible and scalable cloud computing strategies with enterprises seeking robust middleware solutions to relieve performance bottlenecks," said Duncan Johnston-Watt, founder and CEO, Cloudsoft. "Erik's impressive experience with building dynamic, mission-critical platforms will complement our progress in driving cloud innovation and operating architectures to enhance Monterey's success in bridging the enterprise and the cloud gap."

    About Cloudsoft Corporation
Cloudsoft Corporation is a venture-backed software company dedicated to ensuring that enterprises can apply the benefits of cloud computing to the large-scale, distributed, transactional systems that underpin their business. Utilizing Intelligent Application Mobility, the foundation of Cloudsoft's Monterey platform, they can rapidly overcome roadblocks to cloud adoption and migrate their business critical workloads into the cloud. Currently Monterey supports both the Eclipse Classic and the SpringSource Tool Suite development environments. Monterey extends VMware's vFabric Cloud Application Platform, enabling the logical partitioning vFabric applications into discrete components and managing the dynamic deployment and migration of these components at runtime within and across clouds - private or public - with no disruption or interruption to service. It is the only solution that is geographically aware and automatically optimizes infrastructure utilization and governance based on policies.

The Monterey Developer Edition is available free of charge as either a download bundled with Eclipse Classic or as an Eclipse Plugin. This edition allows developers to build, run and manage Monterey applications or services in either a simulator or, using their own credentials, in public clouds such as Amazon EC2 or GoGrid.
