  • (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2018 - SANTA CLARA, Calif. — CLARA analytics (“CLARA”), the leading provider of artificial intelligence (AI) technology in the commercial insurance industry, today announced the hiring of highly respected insurance executive Kimberly Wiswell. Kim will serve as vice president of managed care operations. She brings more than 40 years of deep domain expertise in managed care, risk management, and occupational medicine to CLARA, which she will apply to new product and feature development. Kim will also assist in operationalization and adoption of CLARA’s products within customer operations.

“Kim understands the intricacies of managed care, sees exactly how and where AI can be applied to dramatically improve operations, and can accurately and astutely convey that value,” said Jayant Lakshmikanthan, president of CLARA analytics. “She has outstanding insights, and we are thrilled that she chose to join CLARA as we continue to drive change in the commercial insurance markets.”

Kim brings a broad spectrum of expertise to CLARA:

    • At MEDVAL, Kim oversaw operations and drove the creation of a technological infrastructure allowing the company to grow 35 percent over a three-year period without an attendant increase in staffing.
    • At CompPartners, Kim set up operations, systems and infrastructure for a new division providing Medicare Set-Asides. Entering the Medicare Secondary Payer compliance industry at Coventry/First Health Priority Services, Kim oversaw operations, successfully managing the company through a phenomenal 90 percent growth rate over a one-year period through the design and implementation of tools streamlining the processes.
    • Kim has worked on all sides of the managed care equation, having served as a senior operations executive at companies such as HealthNet Plus; Fremont Compensation; Fair, Isaac Company; Beech Street; MEDATA; and Kaiser Permanente.
    • Her extensive background includes medical bill review operations/system design, provider network design/contracting, occupational medicine operations/coding/reimbursement, and extensive consulting in business process reengineering in all aspects of managed care.

Kim joins a team of recently hired, high-profile insurance executives at CLARA. Earlier this summer, CLARA announced the appointment of Tom Ash as senior vice president of sales and business development, while Ruth Estrich was recently named to CLARA’s advisory board. The company continues to attract top talent after successfully spinning off from parent company LeanTaaS in November 2017. Since becoming an independent company, CLARA has more than doubled in size and has increased its customer base by 180 percent as it continues to bring innovative, purposeful AI-based products to the market, including CLARA providers, CLARA claims and CLARA litigation.

“CLARA represents a unique opportunity to fundamentally change an industry for the better,” said Wiswell. “Having spent my career providing services to the insurer community, I feel as if it’s all been in preparation for this opportunity, and I can attest to just how much CLARA’s products are needed. I am incredibly excited to join this exceptional team to help CLARA exceed its potential.”
