CII LAUNCHES "Employability Bridge"

  • (1888PressRelease) January 22, 2011 - Chennai - Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) launches the "Employability Bridge", a complete package for Industry, academia and students to share a single platform towards employment. Employability Bridge will provide an opportunity management for the industry, placement management system for the institutions and constant employability enhancement learning platform for students.

    A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and SurgeForth Technologies Private Limited (Project Management partner to the Employability bridge), on 18 January 2011 at CII Southern Region Headquarters to create a pool of employable youth from colleges across Southern Region.

    Mr H R Srinivasan, Convenor, CII Tamil Nadu Education Panel & Vice Chairman, Take solutions Ltd and Mr Ambalavanan Ramachandran, Director, SurgeForth Technologies signed the MoU.

    Under this program students will be provided employability training on Industry driven competencies comprising of classroom sessions, e-learning, self-assessment tests. They'll be exposed to industry opportunities in terms of internship/projects/job opportunities. Also the Employability Skills Assessment & Certification will be provided during the program.

    The main target is to reach 2000 Students of 15 Colleges through these services and would eventually cater to around 50 Companies this year.

    The bridge is also proposed to be expanded to technical domain- Life sciences, Bio-technology, Civil & Structural Engineering and reach out to around 50 colleges in southern region thereby training 8000 students and facilitating employments needs of 400 Companies.

    Some of the positive and cost effective aspects of the Bridge are the use of technology to leverage /collaborate, take into consideration input from industry as well as academia in terms of challenges, bring specialized best employability training partners for each domain/area together. The Bridge proposes to reach the CII Member companies to the talent pool available in the tier-II and tier-III colleges spread across the Southern Region.

    Industry would be benefitted by Cost effective Placement Aggregation Services for companies to recruit fresh graduates on campus and off campus, 24/7 online access to validated talent pool for campus hiring, comprehensive competency based selection instead of just academic records. They can also benefit from a unique feature of administering their own assessment to selected candidates as well.
