  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) March 05, 2016 - Throughout Charlotte Lisboa's sensual visions of the female form one discovers a luscious softness and warmth infused with the spirit of her subjects. As they luxuriate in peaceful repose, Charlotte's women seem lost in contemplation and serenity. In her paintings, the artist takes life out of its context and into ethereal scenes of atmospheric wonder. These figural works and portraits seem to breathe with vitality, bringing together realism with touches of impressionism and abstraction. Working in oil paints on panel, canvas, or linen, and drawing in graphite on paper, Charlotte captures an evolution of ideas across time. Within each mark, one finds care and craftsmanship built upon years of finely honed skills and the sensitivity of a compassionate gaze.

Encouraged to express herself freely from an early age, Charlotte Lisboa found her creative spirit fueled during the time she spent in Paris and since then she has followed her career as an artist with passion and dedication. Born in Brazil, she studied in the United States and received degrees from the University of Miami before focusing on her artistic career.

    About the Exhibition
A Journey of Epic Proportions: "From Here to There"

Seventeen artists collaborate in the exhibition From Here to There to bring a New York audience on a magnificent journey of self-discovery, expression, and realization. Buzzing in energy, color, form, and texture, the works on display hint at real worlds while obscuring just enough to direct the viewer's experience and effectively control the conversation. Abstractions flourish across canvas, while figures bend and transform before the viewers' eyes. Varying on the scale of fiction and reality, the artworks featured tell a unique story of humanity, nature, and society in inventive ways. Most of all, however, they tell a story of movement and change: making this an exhibition that truly takes you from one state of mind to somewhere completely new and exciting.
