Charles Carroll Middle School Celebrates the MOU Signing of a Sister School Initiative with Surefoot American International School, Nigeria

The Memorandum of Understanding outlines the support CCMS will provide to SAIS in meeting the goals of the Sister School relationship by developing an enabling environment and operational framework for an effective means of reciprocal knowledge transfer through enhancing the way students learn domestically and internationally.

    With Her Excellency, Mrs. Obioma Liyel Imoke being one of the driving forces for quality education for Cross Riverians- while at the pinning ceremony of Dr. Eric Wood becoming a Goodwill Ambassador for Education to CRS she stated "I am elated and overjoyed with the partnership with Charles Carroll Middle School. The signing of the MOU has brought a dream to come to pass. I frequent Maryland often to spend time with my family and friends. My husband, the Governor of Cross River State attended the University of Maryland College Park in Maryland as well. This becomes a full circle moment for us. This is a joyous moment for me, my staff and our students".

    Mrs. Liyel-Imoke further stated "the Surefoot American International School (SAIS) though just getting into its third year of operation and has recently been contacted by the This Day School Watch with a view to listing the school as one of Nigeria's 40 Best schools. They were also informed that Mrs. Imoke was also concluding its first partnership and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Charles Carroll Middle School.

    Under the leadership of Dr. Wood, Charles Carroll Middle School has included in its vision a global reach and interaction for its students through the Sister School partnership with SAIS. Dr. Wood said, "Great partnerships such as the Faith Based Collaborative Group Outreach under the leadership of Ms. Claudia B. Walter and Dr. Cheryl Hill, CEO of Integrity International Consulting Group who is the facilitator for the Sister School partnership have made this process of a global connection possible."

    Official representatives present at the event will be from the Nigerian Embassy (Washington D.C.), Ms. Lane Strutton (New York), The Office of the Secretary of State (MD), Maryland Governor's Office of Community Initiatives, The Honorable Mayor Hanko's Office, Prince George's County Executive's Office, The Nigerian Friendship Association and The Maryland African Commission. The ceremony will take place at Charles Carroll Middle School and begin at 9:45 AM.
