He defines the targets and focus of IT for the whole Group as well as rules and guidelines for the best possible IT support of the businesses to help them reach the Group’s targets.

    As CIO of the RWE Group, Michael is responsible for the group-wide steering and harmonisation of information technology (IT). He defines the targets and focus of IT for the whole Group as well as rules and guidelines for the best possible IT support of the businesses to help them reach the Group’s targets.

    Michael draws on 20 years of experience within the IT sector. His career has included positions at Hoechst AG and as CIO of Hoechst Marion Roussel AG from 1994 to 2000. He was CIO at Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG since 2000. Michael was awarded ‘CIO of the year’ by the well known German magazine “Computerwoche” (Computer Week) in 2005.

    Michael Neff has been a member of the Management Board of RWE IT since July 2010 and developed some detailed insights into the challenges across the Group for IT and also the tasks he needs to take on.

    IT innovation, cost reduction and simplification through greater use of industry standards is high on Neff’s list. He also seeks to continue with consolidation and harmonisation of IT systems and processes in Europe. Michael sees these tasks helping to ensure IT provide an essential contribution to increasing effectiveness and efficiency in the RWE Group. ”In my role as CIO of the RWE Group I am going to concentrate on supporting our operations with modern and flexible IT services", says Michael.

    To ensure these objectives can be met Michael will look to enable stronger integration for IT in the operative business including active development of innovative solutions. To achieve these objectives he wishes to build on continuous professional development for IT employees to ensure they have the latest industry expertise. Finally, Michael has expressed his need to build cooperation and collaboration along side strategic business partners to ensure IT provide the service his customers need and support users in their day-to-day work.
