  • (1888PressRelease) May 29, 2013 - As of 01 July 2013, it will become mandatory for manufacturers to apply CE marking to any of their construction products covered by a harmonised European standard (hEN) or European technical assessment (ETA), under the Construction Products Regulation (CPR)*.

Dr Geoff Edgell, Director and Principal Construction Consultant, Ceram, commented:

"There is an extraordinary degree of confusion around the CE marking of construction products in the marketplace at present; this has not been helped by the amount of inaccurate advice available.

"On 01 July, manufacturers will need to focus on the CPR which will be the law and the published harmonised standard(s) applicable to them, in order to legally CE mark their products. Following alternative guidance may lead manufacturers to operate illegally - supplying CE marked products which do not provide customers with the required product characteristics."

*From 01 July 2013, the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) will supercede the Construction Products Directive (CPD), and the Assessment and Verification of Constancy of Performance (AVoCP) will replace the Attestation of Conformity (AoC).
