  • (1888PressRelease) May 21, 2011 - Miami, FL - CBT College (College of Business & Technology), an academic and career education institution based in Miami, Florida operating five campuses in the greater Miami-Dade area, has joined dosomething.org in order to help restock the multiple libraries in New Orleans that were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The drive, which started Monday May 16th will last until the 14th of June.

According to DoSomething.org, over 80 percent of schools in New Orleans were damaged by Hurricane Katrina. In the most underserved areas, there is only ONE book for every 300 children so CBT College is asking the community for support in order to donate the largest collection.

All books are currently being collected by CBT College's West Kendall Campus located at 8765 S.W. 165th Avenue. Books that will be accepted include:

Those that are in good condition
    Hard copy or paperbacks and
Ones that have no or minimal highlights

On June 14th, CBT College will be sending all books to Better World Books and they will be donated or sold to raise funds for New Orleans' Recovery School District libraries.
The school with the largest book drive will win a $1000 donation to their school library and a pizza party for the whole school!

"As one of the principals of our educational institution, we are very proud to be part of such a fitting and worthy cause," says, Luis Llerena, Executive Director of CBT College. "We are really happy to be opening our doors with this kind of initiative into the community. Essentially, what we have created here is local distribution center for many people that may want to donate books they don't need and at the same time aid those students that don't have access to educational books."
