  • (1888PressRelease) May 03, 2017 - Phoenix Modular Elevator (PME) has now been certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau. The certification is in Division 2 under CSA Standard W47.1 and gives certification for fusion welding of steel. In layman's terms, this verifies that PME can weld on any job that will be exported to Canada. To qualify, the company had to have a certified engineer, supervisor and at least one certified welder onsite. PME has eight welders that passed the various tests.

The benefit is that this validation will continue to open up export opportunities in the Canadian market, spurring even more growth for the vibrant Mt. Vernon, Illinois, company. This certification is very valuable, as the structure of the modular elevator produced by PME is a steel hoistway or shaft. There are other steel components that make up the remainder of the elevator as well. PME modular elevators are a complete hoistway with the elevator car already inserted in the manufacturing process. They are built horizontally and are pre-wired ready to be craned into place once they arrive at the job site.

Because they are a complete elevator and hoistway, they are very useful for construction in colder climates where it is not practical to stick build an elevator shaft due to shifts in weather conditions. The modular elevator is manufactured in a factory so there are no delays due to temperature or inclement weather.

The products produced by Phoenix Modular Elevator are high-quality, commercial elevators that meet ADA requirements and can also be gurney compliant as well. They are built to be loaded directly onto flatbed trucks for shipment and are the fastest installing elevators available. There is an eight-week lead time and onsite installation can be completed in a week or less. The units are used in schools, universities, hotels, stadiums, amusement parks, office buildings, government buildings and churches. Phoenix Modular Elevator is a Mount Vernon, Illinois, business and has been constructing modular elevators since 1995.
