  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) April 12, 2011 - Camp Lion of Lynn, a non-profit founded in 1952 to serve the youth in the City of Lynn, will help Lynn Shore Little League and East Lynn Little League open their seasons this month with the donation of new bleachers.

In Nov. 2010, aluminum bleachers were stolen from three fields at Volunteer Field used by the East Lynn Little League and from fields at Kiley Playground used by the Lynn Shore Little League.

"Our mission is the betterment of youth in the community," said Sean Crowley, Camp Lions Vice President. "We read in The Daily Item about the theft and wanted to do something to help out."

Camp Lion's contributions will be recognized at opening day ceremonies for both leagues, to be held April 16th at Kiley Playground by the Lynn Shore Little League and April 23rd by the East Lynn Little League.

"With the assistance from Camp Lion of Lynn, we are able to hold this year's season with new bleachers that will allow our kids, teams and families take part of an important aspect of being a child in America - of playing and watching baseball," said Dave Dorgan, Lynn Shore Little League, Coach and President. "We could not have replaced these bleachers without Camp Lion's help."

In addition to paying the costs involved with replacing the bleachers, Camp Lion also supports numerous other programs that have a positive impact on children living in Lynn. Since the 1960s, Camp Lion has provided the grounds, buildings and swimming pool that is exclusively used by Camp Fire for Girls and Boys, affectionately known as Camp Waluta.
