  • (1888PressRelease) March 16, 2012 - San Diego, CA - Bullets2Bandages, the San Diego based cause campaign raising monetary donations for non-profit veteran organizations through the sales of hand made bullet jewelry, will sponsor the Operation Amerithon run across the country in support of Fallen Heroes and disabled veterans returning to civilian life. Operation Amerithon will begin on March 17th on the Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point, CA.

With help from Bullets2Bandages and close family and friends, Albie Masland will have a strong support team by his side as he completes the extreme physical challenge of running across the nation. Bullets2Bandages will be the prime sponsor of Operation Amerithon; acting as the key element in Albie's mobile support team - providing assistance when needed and gearing Albie up in a new apparel line created exclusively for the run. Also sponsoring this effort is the professional tooth whitening service, NovaWhite.

"We are honored to support our friend Albie as he challenges himself to honor the fallen in his process of seeking self fulfillment. It isn't about reaching the finish line, it is about rising to the challenge in an effort to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our country," says co-founder of Bullets2Bandages, Erik Spalding.

As former Naval Explosive Ordinance Disposal officers, founders of Bullets2Bandages Erik Spalding and Cole Evans have made it their mission to support veterans and families negatively affected by the War on Terrorism. By transforming instruments of harm into symbols of hope and healing, the duo donates proceeds from their bullet jewelry line to veteran nonprofit organizations, initially working with the Travis Manion Foundation and now working with Veterans Village of San Diego. Similarly, funds raised through Operation Amerithon will be donated to the Travis Manion Foundation as well.

"I would be honored to raise money for the Travis Manion Foundation. Not only is it a wonderful charitable organization honoring Travis Manion - a Fallen Hero, former classmate, and companion of Erik & Cole with Bullets2Bandages.org, but it also stresses a very important pillar in the work it does," says Albie, creator of Amerithon. "Honoring the fallen by challenging the living is a call to the public that I feel an obligation to answer and echo."

Operation Amerithon will begin on March 17th at 9:00am in front of Hennessey's Tavern located at 34111 La Plaza in Dana Point, CA on the Pacific Coast Highway. Albie will make his way through various cities such as, Los Angeles, Flagstaff, Santa Fe, Amarillo, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Carlisle, and Washington D.C just to name a few.

    About Bullets2Bandages

After serving as Explosive Ordnance Disposal Officers in the U.S. Navy, Erik Spalding and Cole Evans desired to give back to those affected by conflict. The two U.S. Naval Academy graduates founded the concept to provide individuals with a way to support their country through fashionable purchases. By crafting bullet pendants out of fired ammunition and branded dog tags, Bullets2Bandages.org sells its products online and donates proceeds to the Travis Manion Foundation: a non-profit organization whose mission is "to assist wounded and disabled veterans and the families of Fallen Heroes."
