British Legal Centre launches sister company CLEC

Top Quote The British Legal Centre was delighted this week to announce that it now has a sister company, Cambridge Legal English Centre Ltd, (CLEC), operating in Cambridge University, in the centre of the city, at Wolfson Court part of historic Girton College End Quote
  • (1888PressRelease) February 28, 2012 - The whole focus of CLEC is to be on the provision of courses leading to the exams for the Cambridge University International Legal English Certificate, ILEC.

Cambridge Legal English Centre, or CLEC, will provide a unique opportunity for practicing international lawyers and law students to study for the International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) by following its summer courses held at Wolfson Court, Cambridge University, England.

By arrangement with the ILEC authors a special intensive 45 hour version of the ILEC Exam preparation course, taking 2 weeks, has been written to be used on the course, with the ILEC Exams being taken on the last day of the course. There is also an ILEC Foundation course for intermediate level English speakers to prepare them for the full ILEC course later.

You can read all about the company and its school in Cambridge at the company website.

Because of the issue with visas for the UK, and the fact that many lawyers are too busy to spend two entire weeks away from the office in Cambridge, CLEC will be going on the road later in 2012 and will deliver the same courses, using the same teachers and trainers from the Cambridge School in countries as diverse as Jordan, the U A E, Brazil Russia, China, and elsewhere.

Richard Brady, the Head of the British Legal Centre and a Director of CLEC said, 'We are delighted to have the opportunity to provide a specially designed course of legal English which lawyers all over the world can study, whether through visiting Cambridge, or by us bringing the Cambridge School to them. They can acquire the ILEC benchmark qualification in those parts of the world where they are unable to find legally qualified teachers of legal English, or find the time to visit the UK to study. We see this as just a natural extension of the work of the British Legal Centre in extending the use and practice of legal English amongst international lawyers by allowing them to do study at the home of ILEC and for us to visit them in their own countries '
