BrainGain Magazine announces the winners of its first pan-South Asia Essay Writing competition

  • Indianapolis, IN (1888PressRelease) March 08, 2013 - New Delhi, - BrainGain Magazine (www.braingainmag.com), the leading Study Abroad magazine for South Asian students is pleased to announce the winners of its first pan South Asia Essay Writing Competition.

    The Essay Writing Competition was part of the activities marking Salwan Media's annual conference One Globe 2013: Uniting Knowledge Communities. Candidates were required to write an essay consisting of 600-650 words in response to the theme based on the following quote by Plato: - "THE DIRECTION IN WHICH EDUCATION STARTS A MAN (PERSON), WILL DETERMINE HIS FUTURE LIFE."

    The competition celebrates and nurtures the creative talents of young people across South Asia .It also provides a platform for students to compete and present a stimulating exchange of ideas with their peers in each of the eight countries.

    Participation was open to high school students between the ages of 15 to 18 years across Bhutan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Maldives, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. The standard of applications was high and a panel of three judges came together to choose the top essays submitted.

    The winner of the Essay Writing Competition Christy Nameirakpam of The Sagar School, Alwar Rajasthan in her essay says "Nature is the best teacher. Ants teach us to persevere, birds teach us to be independent, and water teaches us to be fierce as well as calm. Nature provides us with everything and we show our gratitude by polluting our environment. If people can't appreciate the value of our Mother Nature, such education stands vindicated"

    She received a Samsung Galaxy Tablet and the Top 10 entries each win a braingainmag.com T-shirt; Top 25 entries will be featured on http://www.braingainmag.com/ The following authors of the top essays are :Kanika Marwah, Bipasha Nath, Pradhumn Sharma, Adweitt Sharma, Sagar Suhag ,Kirti Dalal Thoinu Karam,Abhijeet Srivastava Nanki Singh and Jitin Jose.
