  • Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) October 29, 2010 - The Business and Professional Women's Clubs of North Carolina have announced the speaker lineup for their upcoming biannual "Women Empowered and Enlightened" event, which will take place from November 12-14, centering on a series of educational and training sessions on Saturday the 13th at the Hampton Inn & Suites RDU Airport/Brier Creek. The speaker lineup for the Saturday sessions, which will be preceded by a Friday night networking event, is composed of six prominent and influential female business leaders with strong ties to the Triangle.

"We're very excited about the insightful topics that will be presented at this year's 'Women Empowered and Enlightened' event," said BPW/NC President, Gail Harper. "These influential speakers and their presentations are going to bring strong women from all of North Carolina together for one extraordinary weekend to network and learn."

Colleen Slaughter, Founder and Leadership Coach at Authentic Leadership International, LLC, will headline the event's educational sessions, speaking to attendees about how women can harness change to become powerful leaders.

Elizabeth Loverso, Vice President of Product Development at Red Storm Entertainment, a prominent North Carolina video game development studio founded by Tom Clancy, will deliver a presentation on how women can excel in male dominated industries.

Donna Hall, Certified Advanced Behavioral Strategist and Partner at Raleigh Consulting Group, will lead audiences in an eye-opening session based on the DISC behavior model, geared toward understanding themselves and others better in professional settings. Participants will have an added bonus with Ms. Hall's session: one week prior to the event they will receive a free DISC assessment to complete online (a $175 value). Results are immediate and private; however, an example will be reviewed and discussed during the session.

Katie Gailes, CEO and Chief Strategist at SmartMoves International, will teach audiences the pitfalls of being disingenuously nice in professional settings, and train them on how to restore the reputation of the word "nice."

Becky Dansky, a North Carolina Civil Rights Advocate, will instruct attendees on the most effective way to lobby and have ideas recognized.

Laura Poole, an Associate Certified Coach at Archer Coaching, will present on how to develop proper listening skills for building professional relationships.
