  • Denver, CO (1888PressRelease) November 19, 2020 - Barbara MacFerrin of Barbara MacFerrin Photography in Boulder, CO was named a Diamond Medalist during Professional Photographers of America's 2020 International Photographic Competition. MacFerrin’s work will be on display at the upcoming Imaging USA, held virtually January 17-19, 2021. Imaging USA is one of the largest annual conventions and expos for professional photographers.

A panel of 36 eminent jurors from across the United States selected the top photographs from over 5,000 total submitted entries at PPA headquarters in Atlanta. Judged against a standard of excellence, 1,706 images were selected for the General Collection and 865 (roughly 17%) were selected for the esteemed Loan Collection—the best of the best. The Loan Collection images will all be published in the much-anticipated "Loan Collection" book by Marathon Press.

The level of the award is determined by how many of those four images receive the highest possible honor: acceptance into the PPA Loan Collection, which is displayed at photographic exhibitions, conventions, and other photography events. MacFerrin was named a Diamond Medalist, meaning that all four of her merited images entered the PPA Loan Collection. In 2020, she was one of only 22 Diamond Photographers of the Year.

Additionally, MacFerrin is a triple finalist towards the Grand Imaging Award. The finalists' images have been deemed the best of the 2020 PPA International Photographic Competition. The Grand Imaging Award finalists in 12 categories were selected from the more than 5,000 entries. At Imaging USA 2021, the top three photographers in each category will receive awards, with one of the 12 first-place images taking the overall Grand Imaging Award and a $1,000 cash prize.
