Boston Strong Fundraiser Raises $20,000 for The One Fund(TM) - Funds to Aid Victims of the Boston Marathon Bombing
Patrons, runners, and Boston natives gathered in Delray Beach, Florida at Boston's on the Beach on June 26 to raise money for the victims of the Boston Marathon bombings. The crowd enjoyed live music, interacted with celebrity bartenders, and donated to The One Fund.
- (1888PressRelease) July 11, 2013 - Boston's on the Beach's salute to the city of Boston and the tragedy that struck on April 15 at the Boston Marathon was by all measures a tremendous success. Hosting a community-wide event that included local running clubs, corporate sponsors, five bands, and an official proclamation from the city of Delray Beach, the event garnered just over $20,000. All proceeds will be sent to The One Fund™ in Boston, the official nonprofit established to assist the victims and families impacted by the horrific events on Patriots' Day in Boston.
Live bands donated their time and kept the crowd entertained with music, along with chance games, raffle prizes, and a silent auction that included round-trip airfare to a Boston Red Sox game, restaurant dinners, hotel stays, gifts, and spa baskets. More than 300 people came and went during the evening at the popular Delray Beach sports bar. They had a single mind-set, helping others in their time of need. Sports anchor Joe Girvan emceed the evening, sharing the stage with his ESPN 106.3 colleagues, Emerson Lotzia and Josh Cohen.
"We were stunned by the bombings at the Boston Marathon. Boston fans filled the restaurant that day, looking to share their grief with others," said Mark DeAtley, Boston's general manager. "We looked for some way we could help, and today, it all came together. We appreciate all of the sponsorship support and the generosity of our patrons."
