  • Miami, FL (1888PressRelease) September 17, 2011 - Need a little pick me up? Then look no further than your grocer's freezer for the newest flavor from Blue Bell - Tiramisu Ice Cream.

Tiramisu is a smooth coffee ice cream loaded with delicious cake pieces, dark chocolate flakes, a creamy caramel sauce and a whipped topping swirled throughout.

And, we're not fibbing about this flavor being the perfect pick me up. When translated, the Italian word tiramisu literally means "pick me up."

Like so many delicious foods, this dessert originated in Italy and has become an American favorite. There are countless variations on how to make tiramisu, but the basic recipe always includes lady fingers that have been dipped in strong coffee - for the pick me up - layered between a creamy mixture containing mascarpone cheese and topped with a little cocoa.

"If you love tiramisu you must try this ice cream and even if you have never tasted it, our ice cream will be a great introduction," said Christy Moran, research and development manager for Blue Bell. "Our version of tiramisu perfectly captures the flavor of the traditional dessert in an ice cream form. There is a mild coffee flavor in your first bite, but it is quickly sweetened by the caramel sauce and whipped topping. The cake pieces have the perfect texture and really make this ice cream unique. And we have added the chocolate flakes in as the perfect garnish."
Tiramisu Ice Cream will be available in your grocer's freezer in September.
