Binna Burra Waterfalls in the Gold Coast Hinterland

  • (1888PressRelease) November 28, 2021 - In this silent hiking film I showcase some of the Binna Burra's waterfalls in the Gold Coast's Lamington National Park.

I headed up to Binna Burra quite early for this one and spotted a couple of koalas and wallabies crossing the roads on the way up the mountain. Starting the hike around 5am, there was plenty of birdlife around including male and female Lyrebirds who seemed to be only metres from the trail for the first hour or so of the hike. You can hear how close they were in the first scene of the video.

Upper Ballanjui Falls is a 10-12km 'out and back' trail starting from the top car park at Binna Burra, and begins on the Boarder Track and then heads down towards the Ship's Stern Circuit walk. There are plenty of waterfalls to see on the way down, including the Ballanjui Cascades, Booboora Falls, and Yabbraboola Falls.

Each of the additional waterfalls on the way down to Upper Ballanjui Falls require a small detour of a hundred metres on a well marked trail. When you do reach the Ballanjuai Falls turn-point you won't actually be able to see the Ballanjui waterfall (without a drone) as this is the top section of the waterfall, but you are greeted by impressive views through the valley to the north of the National Park. There is another trail called the Lower Ballanjui Falls that starts at a different trail in the Binna Burra section of Lamington National Park and leads you down to the bottom of the waterfall.
