  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) September 20, 2011 - Stephen Darago, Head Wellness Coordinator for the School District of Osceola County and former Physical Education Instructor at Neptune Elementary School, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Stephen Darago's commitment to excellence in Education.

    Darago, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education from Keene State College and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University, has recently been appointed as the dean of students for St. Cloud High School, beginning September 19.

    As a newly appointed dean of students, Darago's main responsibility will be to assist the principal in the administration of district codes and attendance policies. He will serve as community liaison, working with all educational stakeholders to promote the value of students achieving a diploma and obtaining an education. He will also supervise extracurricular activities and sporting events for the high school.

    "I believe that strong mentoring is the key to success in any organization," Darago said in respect to his career.

    Darago facilitates professional development workshops and trains teachers in many different aspects. He attends educational conferences and reads up on recent peer reviewed articles to keep up with the current world in education. He also reads educational legislation, communicates with is legislators and is a public school advocate.

    Hoping to further his education and begin working on his doctorate degree in educational leadership and administration and work toward a superintendent position sometime in the future, Darago is looking forward to his recently acquired dean of students role this upcoming fall.

    Darago is a member of AAPERD, Central Florida Officials Association and Kappa Delta Phi National Fraternity. He is an executive board member for the School Health Alliance Committee for the School District of Osceola County (SDOC) and serves as the general manager of two softball teams, the Talbott Asset Management League Team in Winter Garden and the Pondtastic Water Gardens Softball tournament team. He earned his national board teaching certification with the national Board of Professional Teaching Standards in 2006. He is a certified high school football and basketball referee for the state of Florida and has eight years experience as a middle school referee for basketball, flag football, soccer and softball for the SDOC. He is a certified water safety instructor with the American Red Cross. When Stephen isn't busy working, he enjoys attending Orlando Magic basketball games as a season ticket holder, hiking in Weikiva State Park and attending musical concerts and performances in the arts.
