  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) November 23, 2011 - Nigel L. Walker, Teacher and Assistant Football Coach at Long Cane Middle School, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Nigel L. Walker's commitment to excellence in Education.

Walker, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Middle School Education, a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, all from LaGrange College, is a certified mathematics teacher for grades four through eight.

Having started his teaching career in January of 2006, Walker began substitute teaching in 2004 as well as volunteer work for his local Boys and Girls Club of West Georgia, Burwell Psycho-Educational Program, LaGrange College Learn 2 Serve Camp and Camp Promise of Twin Cedars Youth Services, Inc.

"Growing up in a single-parent family of eight in public housing, I had to lean on teachers' support to reinforce what my mother always told me about the power of education," Walker explained. "I decided then to be a teacher, mentor and coach to children who share the same background."

In the future, Walker would like to become a college professor and motivate more young teachers to join the profession with the care and enthusiasm that he has had as a teacher. He also hopes to perhaps work for or even open his own private school somewhere down the road.
