  • Lousiville, KY-IN (1888PressRelease) September 10, 2010 - Miles Mattingly, Web Developer for Refund Advantage, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Miles Mattingly's commitment to excellence in Computers and Web Design.

Mattingly, who holds a BS in Information Technology, an AS in Intranet Programming, and an AS in Computer Programming, all from Sullivan University, spent the last twenty-nine years working for DuPont. But in 2008, he decided to make a career change that would put him back in college to pursue other goals.

After discovering programming in the seventies during his pre-engineering days at the University of Louisville, and after more exposure to information systems in the control and research laboratory at DuPont in the eighties, Mattingly started writing simple code and designing the occasional website. In 2000, he officially went back to school to earn two programming associates, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology.

In his current role, Mattingly is in charge of creating any new code that the business needs may dictate; anything from interfacing with banking APIs to writing script due to tax law changes. As in any business, peripheral duties emerge during day to day activities, which include updating, rewriting, or altering outdated programs for new application integration. "As in any business that is associated with banking and finance, security is always an important issue," he explained. "So keeping up with the latest advances in cyber-security is a necessity." Mattingly is also involved in technical and network support.

Current programming techniques combined with practical experiences is what has gotten Mattingly this far in his career. In past jobs, he had the pleasure of working with process controls, process development, and laboratory methods. "Luckily, my IT education was combined with a business education, giving me a more realistic knowledge of what IT should really be," he said.

Continuing to develop his company's infrastructure through technological improvement and growth, Mattingly would also love to teach on the side, being that it is a great way to keep current with the latest technological changes.

Mattingly is an instructor of Kung Fu martial arts. He is a strong supporter for victims of domestic violence, Home of the Innocents, and St. Joseph Children's Home.
