  • Edison, NJ (1888PressRelease) February 11, 2012 - Lynn Petersen-Heres, Special Education Teacher for the Edison Board of Education, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Lynn Petersen-Heres's commitment to excellence in Education.

Petersen-Heres, who holds a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Slippery Rock University and a Master's Degree in Special Education from Rutgers University, began working with special needs children in 1976 as an educational consultant for the state of New Jersey. She worked in this capacity for three years before becoming a special education teacher for the Edison Board of Education.

Now teaching elementary school aged children in a resource room, Petersen-Heres addresses the needs of students' individualized education programs and exposes them to grade level curriculum. She writes the present level of performance for her students' IEPs, identifies goals and objectives and reports on students' progress throughout the year.

After wanting to take on a more hands-on approach, Petersen-Heres decided to teach her own class, saying, "My focus turned toward helping my students be accepted and be able to function in the regular class."

Hoping to continue making a difference in the lives of her students, Peteresen-Heres plans to continue teaching until retirement. In addition to teaching, she has co-authored two books, entitled Let the Games Begin English and Let the Games Begin Social Studies. These books are both loosely based on an Olympic theme to break up the daily routine.
