  • Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) November 03, 2011 - Lawrence Merion Lavine, Anesthesiologist for Lutheran General Hospital, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Lawrence Merion Lavine's commitment to excellence in Healthcare.

    Lavine, who holds an MD from George Washington University, completed his residency in anesthesiology in 1979 and is a board certified anesthesiologist.

    Currently a general anesthesiologist for Lutheran General Hospital, Lavine also works at the clinic, Integrated Health, treating patients with chronic pain. Working from 7am to 1pm in the hospital, followed by an additional 4 hours at the clinic from 3pm to 7pm daily, Lavine has proven at the ripe age of 67 that no good work goes unnoticed.

    "My earnings support voluntary medical missions to Central America, Haiti and Africa," Lavine said proudly.

    Inspired by his parents and numerous colleagues to leave this world a better place than he found it, Lavine provides free anesthesiology services to people around the world. In addition to traveling to Central America, Haiti and Africa, he is often found volunteering for the Chicago Marathon and other Chicago races as well, dating back to 1978, in honor of his award winning ultra-marathon and marathon runner son, Matthew.

    Lavine is a member of numerous organizations, including the American Medical Association and National Academy of Science. He is a past chairman and executive board member of Division OB Anesthesiology of Cook County Hospital. He was elected to the National Academy of Science in 1987 and was also elected to the executive board of Cook County Hospital that same year. He has written and published numerous scientific papers and reports on medical treatments and has also been invited several times as a guest lecturer for medical education meetings both nationally and internationally. Lavine has been noted to have scored the highest on his anesthesiology board certification exam than anyone else ever in 1979, scoring an 1,194 out of 1,200 questions. He is a strong supporter of Cure International and also partakes in numerous other events and charitable functions in his free time. When Lawrence isn't busy working or volunteering, he enjoys skiing, boating and Civil War reenactment.
