  • Columbus, OH (1888PressRelease) April 22, 2011 - Larry Sweeney, Division Manager of CACI, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Larry Sweeney's commitment to excellence in Government Contracting.

    Sweeney, who holds a BS in Civil Engineering from the University of Massachusetts and an MBA from the University of Wyoming, began working for his current employer in 2001 as a technical program manager after serving twenty-nine years in the US Air Force.

    A certified program management professional through the Project Management Institute, Sweeney currently manages a portfolio of programs for his firm. He provides overall strategic guidance and manages high level tactical plans for improving customer services. He builds new business strategies for growing future business and provides day-to-day management of all personnel assigned. He also provides capture management on numerous new opportunities that have grown the business base on numerous occasions. Sweeney has overseen thirty-five employees and twelve subcontractors across all of the programs assigned to his portfolio, which has grown from local support to the point where he can now support programs across the United States.

    Noting how important it is for Sweeney to share his leadership style with his team, he said, "I believe in building a strong team approach on all my projects. I emphasize the need for teamwork and collaboration. I highlight the most positive talents in all my employees."

    Crediting his family, faith and long career history in the military, Sweeney hopes to continue climbing the ladder before he reaches retirement, possible with a company officer and possibly a vice-president position.

    Sweeney is a member of the Project Management Institute, Air Force Association, American Military Officers Association and is a fourth degree Sir Knight of the Knights of Columbus. He is a certified master missileer and past adjunct professor for the University of Dayton and University of Maryland. Having retired as an Air Force Colonel, he's received numerous awards, including a National Defense Service Medal, Outstanding Unit Award, Organizational Excellence Award, Achievement Medal, Commendation Medal, Meritorious Service Medal and a Legion of Merit and Defense Superior Service Medal. He has also received a Project Plus Award and two Project Excellence Awards for Exceptional Management through CACI and was recognized with a Volunteer of the Year Award from the Knights of Columbus Council 14440. In his free time, Larry enjoys reading and playing golf.
