Leonard's commitment to excellence in Environmental Consulting.

    Leonard, who holds a Bachelor's Degree from Syracuse University, began working in 1976 for Monroe County Planning Department as a coastal management specialist. From there she went on to work as an environmental analyst for National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and as the Maryland Director of Fisheries before founding her organization in 2000.

    As CEO of her organization, Leonard is responsible for all grants and contracts, which involve forming teams with expertise needed to successfully obtain them. She also manages team members and subcontractors and ensures deliverables are timely and complete. With over thirty years experience in her field, Leonard has a solid background in political science education and land use planning.

    "Growing up in Barnegat Bay, New Jersey, I learned the value of our rivers and estuaries, the resources therein, and the human impacts," Leonard said in regard to her passion for her work. "I have been environmentally conscious ever since and work diligently to preserve, protect and restore our coastal environments."

    Leonard continues to work closely with local residents to preserve and restore natural resources. She is also working with the government and seafood industry to increase exports of shellfish to Europe and Asia to balance our current deficit of eighty percent.

    Leonard is a member of World Aquaculture, Aquaculture Association of Canada, National Shell Fisheries Association, and Magothy River Association. She also serves as committee chair for the Interstate Shellfish Sanitation Conference, chairman for the International Conference on Shellfish Restoration and is on the board of directors for the International Society of Molluscan Shellfish Safety. When Leonard isn't busy working, she enjoys spending her free time sailing, fishing and traveling.
