  • New Orleans, LA (1888PressRelease) October 08, 2010 - Dionne Brown, Owner and Speech Language Pathologist for Express Yourself Speech and Language Therapy, LLC, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

Brown, who holds a BA in Speech-Language Pathology from Nicholls State University, followed by an MEd in Special Education from Southern University A&M College, has been working in her field since 1996.

After working for Terrebonne School District for over ten years as a speech therapist while working towards her master's degree, Brown became aware of a need for speech therapy services in the private sector and decided to open her own business in July of 2007. As owner and as a pathologist, she evaluates, diagnoses, and helps prevent speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. She also provides treatment for speech, language, voice, fluency, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders in individuals of all ages from toddlers to the elderly.

Skilled in various areas, including analyzing and diagnosing her clients, using the most current available researched-based information on how to effectively treat individuals with communication and swallowing disorders, Brown is inspired to help others. "As a speech-language pathologist, it is rewarding when someone is able to eat food or drink liquids after not being able to for a long period or someone is able to reduce his or her stuttering to one or two times during a conversation after stuttering on every word during a conversation," she explained.

Planning to become a board certified behavior analyst specializing in autism, Brown also hopes to expand her private practice to provide early intervention services to enhance the cognitive and language skills in young children and educational services such as tutoring in reading and math. She is currently certified in clinical competence in speech-language pathology from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. In her spare time, Dionne volunteers with Beacon Light Baptist Church of Houma. She enjoys gospel and R&B music, traveling, and reading.
