  • Jackson, MS (1888PressRelease) October 26, 2010 - Angie Wells Barnard, Owner and Dealer of 2 B Lazy Farm Safety Division, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Biltmore Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

Barnard, a certified open horse show judge and certified dealer for Troxel Helmet Manufacturing, began her venture eighteen years ago in the farming business with her husband Dean.

After developing a farm in 1992 training youth horses at a national level, Barnard started giving lessons three years later to those interested in riding. In 2005, she began promoting safety usage among equestrians. After recovering from a fall that resulted in a head injury causing amnesia, temporary paralysis, and slower motor skills, she wanted to spread the importance of safety. By looking into a safer way of doing what she loved and educating others at the same time, she said, "I promote safety awareness through helmets, shin guards, mounting blocks, and harnesses. I train horses to become useable mounts for riders that have a dream or goal to ride at a certain level. "I also specialize in timed events, but have helped with other events like trail courses for disabled riders and with judged events."

Barnard went on to say that in western disciplines helmets are frowned upon, as a sign that the rider is either a new to the sport or is afraid. On the contrary, her lessons teach respect of the sport, the rider, and the horse. She added, "I wanted to make safety equipment more common and viewed the same way the saddle is, as a piece of tack to ride a horse."

A thirty year veteran of competitive riding, Barnard has participated in a variety of breed world championships. She is a member of the National Barrel Horse Association and past director of the State of Mississippi Horse Show Association. She is also the vice-president of her local PTO and VBS director for Gum Springs Baptist Church. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the AQHA Reserve World Champion in Pole Bending, has been an American Quarter Horse Association World Show Qualifier for the past three decades, a qualifier of the National Barrel Horse Association World Show for multiple years, a NBHA National and Super Show Saddle Winner, and a High Point Rider for the state of Mississippi several times. She's also won numerous association and club championships over the years. She has had students named All-Around Cowgirl for the National High School Rodeo, attained multiple All- Around Horse for multiple years for the state of Mississippi NHSRA, as well as many state AQHYA, APHA, APHC, and NBHA world qualifiers.
