This year's congress is composed of three major events - the 7th International Congress of Systematic and Evolutionary Biology (ICSEB VII) of the International Organization for Systematic and Evolutionary Biology (IOSEB), the 12th Annual Meeting of the Society of Biological Systematics (GfBS), and the 20th International Symposium "Biodiversity and Evolutionary Biology" of the German Botanical Society (DBG).

    Hosted by the Botanic Garden and Botanical Museum Berlin-Dahlem (Freie Universität Berlin) and the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin, the congress will open with a plenary lecture on "60 Years of Phylogenetic Systematics: Progress and Issues." Major conference topics include (1) trends in taxonomy, (2) evolution of organisms in time and space, (3) the evolutionary thought: history, philosophy and society, (4) evolution of form and function, and (5) inventorying and managing biodiversity.
