  • Santa Fe, NM (1888PressRelease) September 27, 2012 - The first weekend of November the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) will host some of the most eminent thinkers and researchers in behavioral science and practice at the Inn and Spa at Loretto in Santa Fe, New Mexico-the Land of Enchantment. Through presentations and discussions at ABAI's Theory and Philosophy Conference, they will address some of the most basic yet far-reaching issues in the science and application of behavior analysis.

    Topics will include:
    • What counts as behavior? (William Baum, Charles Shimp, and Raymond Pitts)
    • How can a science of behavior address ethical behavior? (John Staddon, Max Hocutt, and Maria Ruiz)
    • What can a science of behavior say about the behavior of scientists? (Henry Schlinger, David Palmer, and Timothy Hackenberg)
    • What are the roles of consciousness and private events in a science of behavior? (Jay Moore, Howard Rachlin, and Michael Dougher)
    • What kinds of theories and models are appropriate for understanding behavioral phenomena? (Peter Killeen, Jack McDowell, and John Donahoe)

    In addition, a poster session featuring submissions from around the world will be held on Saturday evening. There will be ample opportunity for attendees to talk to presenters both at the formal sessions and the poster session.
