Carolyn Lord will present a systematic series of lessons on figure drawing and painting, working from professional models from the Bay Area Model's Guild. These lessons are designed to introduce the figure to first time students, as well as to benefit devotees of figure drawing. Carolyn will demonstrate drawing and painting, followed with time for the students to practice the lessons.

"Platform Pose is an example of the 20 minute pose that she will be demonstrating on Sunday. The goal is for the artist, after the workshop, to be able to continue developing their skills while attending uninstructed figure drawing sessions that are available throughout the Bay Area. Carolyn feels that the artistic skills and observations learned by drawing the figure, directly influence an artist's ability to create successful drawings, paintings, and sculpture regardless of the subject.

Carolyn Lord has been drawing and painting the figure since college in the 1970's. She has attended the Bay Area Classical Art Atelier in Belmont, and is currently exhibiting three of her 20-minute figure oil paintings, including "Platform Pose" in "Unclad: The art of the Figure" in the Puget Sound Region of Washington. This open, juried show features over 90 artists, and can be previewed on line at www.uncladart.com.
