  • (1888PressRelease) January 24, 2012 - BASF's aim is to optimize animal nutrition to make it more efficient, more cost-effective and more sustainable over time. In 2050, more than nine billion people will live on our planet. This represents an enormous challenge for food production in general, and for the upstream feed industry in particular. BASF's innovative feed ingredients will help customers provide more sustainable poultry feed while saving resources. BASF's Natugrain® TS and Natuphos® feed enzymes increase the efficiency of feed conversion. Natugrain® TS (a combination of xylanase and glucanase) improves the utilization of energy and nutrients from plant-based feed, making otherwise indigestible plant components (NSPs) digestible. Natuphos® (phytase) improves utilization of phosphorus from plant-based feeds, thereby cutting down on the use of inorganic phosphorus in feed. Combining enzymes with organic acids is an emerging concept which helps optimize the gut microflora in poultry, achieving maximum benefits at minimum costs.

Natuphos ® 5000 Combi G – New Enzyme Combination for Animal Feed
With the introduction of Natuphos® 5000 Combi G, BASF is the first to bring an animal feed enzyme combination in granulate form to the market. The new product is a combination of the two BASF feed additives Natuphos® and Natugrain® TS. Based on its many years of experience in enzyme formulation, BASF has succeeded in unifying the enzymes 3-phytase, beta-xylanase and beta-glucanase in a stable formulation particularly well-suited for premixes and pelleting. Like other enzyme products from BASF the new enzyme granulate is distinguished by its long shelf life. Customers benefit in particular from the simplified handling and dosing of the new enzyme combination, as compared to the separate use of Natuphos® and Natugrain® TS. In addition to reducing storage space and container requirements, the new product makes a significant contribution to reducing complexity for the customer and also helps protect the environment, since less packaging material and transport space are needed.

    More – Better – Less
BASF's innovations in animal nutrition will play a key role in providing more affordable food for more people, enhancing nutritional quality and the quality of life for humans and animals. At the same time they help reduce the impact of feed and food production on the planet's resources, environment and climate.
