  • (1888PressRelease) February 01, 2012 - In response, this year’s exhibit will focus on solutions tailored to meet both farmers’ and consumers’ expectations.
“Our crop protection portfolio and especially our concepts Smart Protection and AgCelence® give farmers the right solutions, because both consumers and farmers benefit from the results”, says Vincent Gros, Senior Vice President of BASF SE and Head of the Region Europe, CIS, Central Asia, Africa and Middle East of BASF’s Crop Protection division. “Smart Protection programs are designed so that farmers can have both reliable protection against pest and diseases but also maximum flexibility to choose harvesting dates. This allows for the lowest possible residue level to fulfil the requirements of retailers and consumers”.
BASF will present its latest integrated solutions, especially those under the AgCelence umbrella. AgCelence products help plants to overcome stress conditions more efficiently. Farmers and consumers can expect improved quality such as crispy green salad with longer-lasting freshness. External partners will also be on hand to present and discuss their own research on the positive effects these solutions have on fresh produce.
The programs and products look at the complex challenges farmers face and offer integrated solutions for greater productivity and profitability on the one hand and environmental and social compatibility on the other.
On February 9th, BASF will hold a Panel Discussion to address several key issues including how consumers’ high expectations affect farmers, retailers and the industry. Six experts from across the food value chain will discuss the question:
“How urgent and feasible is it to support farmers to meet consumer expectations?”
-Prof. Dr. Ahmet Altindisli (Ege University, İzmir, Turkey)
-John Edmunds (Audax Audits, Great Britain)
    -Konstantin Kreiser (NABU, Germany)
-Dionysios Valassas (General manager Apple Farmers association Group Zagorin, Greece)
-Leon VanMullekom (BASF Country Manager, Turkey)
-Andreas Varlamos (Manager at Food Allergens Lab, Greece)
BASF cordially invites all trade fair visitors and media representatives to visit the booth and attend the panel discussion.
