  • Baltimore, MD (1888PressRelease) September 04, 2013 - Baltimore Concert Opera (BCO) celebrates the opening of its fifth season with a party preceding its opening night performance of Elixir of Love. "Opening our fifth season, after having ended each season in the black, and performing to consistently sold out audiences, is a reason to celebrate!" stated Julia Cooke, Executive Director.

"We are grateful not only to our patrons, but to both the William G. Baker Memorial Fund and the Maryland State Arts Council for generous grants this year. We are proud to say that in a difficult climate for arts organizations, Baltimore Concert Opera continues to thrive."

BCO will celebrate its success on Thursday, September 26th prior to the opening night performance of Elixir of Love. Festivities begin at 5:45pm at the Garrett-Jacobs Mansion, with live jazz by the Unified Jazz Ensemble, complimentary hors d'oeuvres, champagne toast, and a cash bar. The celebration will be followed by the opening night performance of Elixir of Love at 7:30pm.

In Elixir of Love, BCO favorites William Davenport and Sharin Apostolou return to dazzle audiences as young peasant Nemorino and the object of his affection, the fickle Adina. Hilarity ensues as Adina is pursued by another suitor, and Nemorino seeks the help of the untrustworthy Dr. Dulcamara to get his way through whatever means necessary. Elixir of Love will premiere on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 7:30pm followed by Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 3pm.

Season and single ticket sales are open to the public. BCO offers Season tickets with a choice of a four opera subscription at a 15% discount, a three opera subscription at a 10% discount, or individual tickets ranging from $25-$65.
