  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) June 11, 2013 - After a great deal of coding and testing B1 Free Archiver team is ready to present the upgraded 0.7 version of B1 Archiver for Android. The updated B1 Archiver now looks more stylish and groovy with its brand-new icon, views contents of the archive without prior extraction and safeguards data with password protection.

They say clothes do not make the man. However, they still make the first impression. So this time B1 Archiver took trouble improving not only its inner world, but the facade as well. It is still easy to recognize and find your good B1 friend on the display, as it has kept its original blue-and-white design. However, it has generally improved its appearance keeping pace with today's trends and fashion.

One of major functionality improvements in v0.7 is that now users can view the contents of the archive without unpacking it first. So if you receive a huge archive with many files and you need to extract only one of them you don't have to unpack the whole archive and thus you don't waste valuable space. Just pick a "View archive" option, find the file or files you need, select files with a new multiple choice function, and extract them.

Following the trendy issue of data protection B1 Free Archiver has introduced data encryption in 0.7 version. Now you can not only compress and archive your files, but also protect them with password. The procedure is quite simple. Set the "Protect with password" option while adding files to an archive, type the desired password (you can also choose to view symbols if you want) and now you have your files securely guarded by B1. Note that no one will be able neither to view the contents of a password-protected archive, nor to extract files from it unless they know the password.

Adam Buyers, project leader at B1 says:

"This time we worked across all areas of potential improvement for B1. I mean, we've done great job adding major features like partial extract and encryption. But at the same time we've made numerous minor improvements, bug and vulnerability fixes which contributes to the stability and reliability of the system in general. I am talking about those small tweaks you may not notice at first but the very moment they disappear you feel it at once. Among such nice little things are multiselect option for archive creation or extraction and moving files from internal memory to SD card. We also increased overall productivity of B1 Free Archiver so that now it uses less system resources.

I am also sending rays of gratitude to our users for being so active and involved. Their tips and notes help us look at our beloved B1 from a different angle and choose right directions for further development. Indeed, a lot of what you can see in this release stemmed from the ideas our users generously shared with us in their letters. It's great we can create B1 Free Archiver together. Thank you guys and keep it going".
