  • (1888PressRelease) August 12, 2010 - Petitude, Australia's FUN and VALUE online pet store selling wide range of pet products like dog clothes, dog shoes, dog kennels, cat trees scratch post, pet stroller and rabbit hutch, is very grateful to be part of a special campaign to help Dog Rescue Newcastle raise funds for the surgery of a local dog named Elly.

Elly is a tiny Shih Tzu, approximately six years old rescued by Dog Rescue Newcastle a few weeks ago. After Dog Rescue Newcastle rescued Elly from the pound, her vet check revealed that she needed surgery to repair the kneecaps on both of her back legs. She was put on pain medication and scheduled her surgery as soon as possible. Her surgery costs approximately $1,000, which is a big bite out of the Australian dog rescue organisation's limited funds. With the genuine love for pets and its advocacy to help make rescued pets experience a better life, Petitude volunteered to help Dog Rescue Newcastle do fund raising to cover this cost.

After Petitude released a special issue of its bi-monthly newsletter for this purpose and encouraged its customers and subscribers to donate and help raise funds for Elly's operation, 45 kind-hearted individuals from all over Australia and as far away as Belgium and Brazil sent donations ranging from $2 to $100 to help Elly. Dog Rescue Newcastle reported that they have received $1,257 so far for little Elly. Several Petitude customers also bought pet items using the special coupon code 4ELLY, which Petitude created just for this campaign. These customers received free gifts from Petitude online pet store as token of appreciation and 15% of the sales generated through the code will be remitted to Dog Rescue Newcastle. The latter will use the additional funds to pay for Elly's desexing, vaccination, and post-operative vet visits.

This fund raising campaign will run until the 16th of August and Petitude still encourages everyone to do their share to help. Please visit http://blog.petitude.com.au/please-help-us-help-elly/ to know more about Elly and for more information on what you can do to help.

Besides the 4ELLY campaign, Petitude and its community have also sent monetary donations and pet products to Dog Rescue Newcastle through the Shop for a Cause campaign, which is still ongoing. Petitude also helps disseminate pet care and pet adoption information by publishing articles on its blog. For five months now, Petitude has been featuring rescued companion pets available for adoption on its newsletters and this effort has already helped several homeless animals find permanent homes and loving family.
