  • Austin-San Marcos, TX (1888PressRelease) May 04, 2016 - On Saturday, May 7, the Alliance invites the public to help celebrate their 10-year anniversary during "Hoedown for the Hounds" at Twin Creeks Country Club in Cedar Park.

Wear your country best; the foot-stompin' barn-style party will include a gourmet dinner, adult beverages, live music, dancing, a photo booth and a live auction. All proceeds will benefit Austin Dog Alliance's Hounds for Heroes program, which trains and provides service dogs to deserving veterans; S+CORE program, which provides job-skill training and job placement for adults with disabilities; and a variety of pet therapy outreach programs serving more than 200 Central Texas schools, libraries, hospitals and nursing homes.

"It's hard to believe we've come so far," says Debi Krakar, Austin Dog Alliance executive director. "When we started out, it was just me, a couple friends and my rescue dog, Riley. Today, we are hundreds of people with hundreds of trained therapy dogs helping thousands of men, women, seniors and children who need the comfort and understanding these special animals can provide."

Krakar also thanked Hoedown for Hounds sponsors Eye Care for Animals, Farmers Insurance/Nadia Cortes, Velocity Credit Union, Firehouse Animal Health Center, Andrew Nietupski and Nancy McIntire, and Brian and Lynn Powell.

"To have such wonderful community support is vital to our ability to keep helping Central Texans and others in need," she says. "We feel blessed to know that they - and so many other local businesses and individuals - have helped us grow and provide these vital services.

Hoedown for Hounds will take place from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7 at Twin Creeks Country Club, 3201 Twin Creeks Club Drive in Cedar Park. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased on the Austin Dog Alliance website, www.austindogalliance.org or by calling 512.335.7100.
