GraceKennedy Group CEO Don Wehby To Receive 2016 International Entrepreneur Of The Year Award

    The International Entrepreneur Award is presented to a businessperson who has contributed significantly to economic development and job creation in the Caribbean through International Trade and Investments between the United States and the Caribbean. Last year's recipient was Ron McKay, CEO of ADS Global and President of the American Chamber in Jamaica.

    According to the Head of the YPCN, Blane Stoddart, Mr Wehby was nominated because of his vision to make GraceKennedy a major player in the global marketplace. In an official letter to Mr Wehby, Mr Stoddart stated that the Group CEO was being awarded for, "Your strategic acquisition of Le Fe Foods in the Northeast United States, and your commitment to invest in downtown Kingston by building a world class Headquarters there, your commitment to the ISSA High School Championships, your major sponsorship of the Penn Relays and your 22-year commitment to Team Jamaica Bickle", which Mr Stoddart said was "demonstrative of your leadership in the community and to our young people."

    "This is a real honor for me," said Mr Wehby. "GraceKennedy is working hard to achieve our vision of becoming a Global Consumer Group, and it's good to know that the company's growth is being noted across the world. I also feel really good to know that our nation building efforts are being recognized as well. For me, this is not so much a personal award as it is an award for the entire GraceKennedy team, without whom I could not have attained any of these achievements," he added.

    In addition to presenting this award, the YPCN helps to raise funds to help Team Jamaica in sporting events such as the Penn Relays. The organization is also inaugurating a college scholarship to assist Minority and Caribbean Students at local universities, as well as developing a job bank to assist young professionals gain employment.
