In 1994, Appellate lawyer Deborah Hebert served on the committee to establish the Appellate Practice Section of the Michigan State Bar and subsequently served as its founding chair. Fellow practice member Noreen Slank also served as chairperson for the Appellate Practice Section.

    Additionally, Hebert and Slank are fellows of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial and appellate lawyer honorary society.
