  • Salinas, CA (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2013 - Pinnacalitos de Chalone family member Kathy Della-Rose announced today that the new release of Antle Wines 2011 will be available for a complimentary tasting and kick off launch event on Friday, October 25th from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. at Zeph's One Stop located at 1366 S. Main St., in Salinas, California.

The 2011 launch will showcase the following Antle Wines:
    • Pinnacalitos de Chalone Pinot Blanc 2011
    - Pinot Blanc is our white wine which is fermented non-malolactic in stainless steel and French neutral barrels This Pinot Blanc is light and fruity with notes of pear and apple; slightly smoky with a crisp acidity, minerality and long finish. The daily temperature fluctuations, and rare limestone-infused soil of the Chalone appellation provide an ideal setting for the production of Pinot Blanc, deeply enhancing the complexity of it's flavor. Pinot Blanc is a great warm-weather wine and a wonderful accompaniment to cold meats, crudités and picnic fare.
    - 55 cases made
    - Aged 8 months

    • Pinnacalitos de Chalone Pinot Noir
    - The rare limestone-rich soil in the Chalone region of the Gabilan Mountain Range has been believed to produce some of the finest terroir expressions anywhere. These properties contribute to the richness of the darkly colored Pinnacalitos de Chalone Pinot Noir. Unique growing conditions, such as an abundance of sun coupled with temperatures ranging from 40-60° F daily, and very little rainfall, create a deeper, richer mineral infused flavor while maintaining the intensity of the fruit-black and/or red cherry, raspberry and current. It may well be one of the most versatile food wines, pairing well with a variety of meats, fish and poultry, and plays well with creamy sauces and spicy seasonings.
    - 176 cases made
    - Age 11 months

    • Pinnacalitos de Chalone Mourvedre
    - Mourvedre produces a tannic wine with soft red fruit flavors, such as blackberry, and often an earthy flavor. The berries are medium sized, black in color and late to ripen. Typically used in blends, Mourvedre complements other red grapes such as Grenache, by adding softness yet structure. Mourvedre likes to grow in clay or limestone soil, which makes it ideal for production in the Chalone appellation. This brilliant red colored medium-body wine is great with a winter meal of chicken and dumplings, or hearty country food such as a turkey dinner, or pork roast and vegetables.

    Pinnacalitos de Chalone Syrah
    - Syrah offers brambly, herbal flavors over light to medium tannins. It displays a smooth balance and restrained blackberry and cherry. This is quite a departure from fruit-driven California wines, drawing instead from its rugged terroir and limestone soils for an intriguing wine that displays a subtle strength. It's a natural pairing with hearty meat dishes
    - 189 cases made
    - Aged 17 months

Antle Wines Pinnacalitos de Chalone varietals are 100% estate grown from Antle Vineyard grapes grown in the Chalone appellation, high in the Gabilan Mountains of Monterey County, California. Home to Pinnacles National Monument, the Chalone appellation is characterized by distinctive limestone and decompressed granite soil, concentrating the flavor and mineral character of the wine. With high daytime, and low nighttime temperatures, this unique region produces some of California's finest wines. We hope you will enjoy drinking them as much as we enjoy bringing them to fruition.
