  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) August 15, 2022 - CLEARWATER, Fla. - After two years of a global pandemic and now a crisis in Europe, it should come as no surprise that the 2022 Stress In America Survey shows that 73% of Americans are overwhelmed by the number of crises currently ongoing in the world. Of those surveyed 87% are concerned about inflation and 81% who cite “global uncertainty” as their biggest source of stress.

"The poll was conducted between February 7 and 14, 2022, among 3,012 adults over the age of 18 who live in the US,” said Glendy Goodsell, the Executive Director of the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Florida. "People are concerned. The 24-hour news cycle and social media keep people stirred up and upset about the future."

    Goodsell’s solution?

"The good news is that something can be done about it," says Goodsell. "There are simple tools you can learn and apply to your life so you can break out of that fear and help create a calmer environment."

The tools have been compiled in an on-line course, available at no charge through www.volunteerministers.org.

"The course is called 'Solutions for a Dangerous Environment' and includes a short video, reading assignment and practical drills so you can put what you have learned to use," said Goodsell. "The course is based on the work of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard and is available to anyone of any faith."

The course is also delivered at the Volunteer Minister’s Center in downtown Clearwater, located at 101 N. Fort Harrison Ave. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 10:30am to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 2pm until 6pm.

"I was amazed at the calming effect the information in this course had on me," said one course graduate. "I used to worry about the news and what I read in the paper. Learning what was in this course and applying the ways to lessen the threat, I have successfully brought calm to myself and my family."

"Solutions for a Dangerous Environment" is just one of the nineteen subjects covered in the Scientology Handbook, the basic textbook for the Volunteer Ministers training program. Other subjects include: The Cause of Supression, The Basics of Organization and The Technology of Study.

    About the Scientology Volunteer Ministers:
The Volunteer Ministers program was created by L. Ron Hubbard in the mid-1970s with the mandate to help “on a volunteer basis by restoring purpose, truth and spiritual values to the lives of others.” Mr. Hubbard further described the Volunteer Minister as a person who “does not shut his eyes to the pain, evil and injustice of existence.” Volunteer Ministers are trained to help others achieve relief from life’s travails and gain new personal strength as well. With Scientology’s presence in Clearwater—and more than 10,000 Scientologists calling this community home—the Volunteer Ministers Center embodies the Church’s passionate embrace of its role to provide solutions for all in the community.
