  • (1888PressRelease) September 02, 2016 - The Association for Early Childhood Educators (Singapore) - AECES is proud to unveil the updated edition of the Code of Ethics for early childhood practitioners.

"The updated Code of Ethics remains an aspirational document and the pride of our profession. We feel that it is essential for every early childhood practitioner to have knowledge of the Code and the skills in applying it in their daily routines. Therefore, apart from distributing hard copies to our members, we will be conducting workshops to help familiarize centre leaders and members with the Code of Ethics so that their professionalism and proficiency may be enhanced." President of AECES, Dr Christine Chen commented.

Coinciding with the launch is the inauguration of a 'Special Treats' card to show appreciation for an estimated 16,000 preschool educators in Singapore. Teachers who present their cards at any of the participating outlets can enjoy promotions and discounts off a range of products and services either at brick and mortar stores or from online stores. This is in partnership with Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) and Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA).

More than 60 merchants are participating in this campaign offering products and services ranging from food to wellness. The promotions are expected to go on from a few months to a year. For a full list of the merchants, please refer to Annex A or the campaign website at www.preschoolmarket.com.

"The debut of the Teachers' card is also a significant milestone for the preschool sector and AECES. It augments our belief and recognition of early childhood educators as professionals making a difference in a child's life. We also hope that it will give them a sense of collective identity. With the merchants coming onboard to offer discounts and promotions to our educators this Teachers' Day, I'm sure our teachers will feel very appreciated and continue to do their professional best to develop their full potential!" Dr Chen continued.

"We are happy to partner with ECDA and WDA to bring Special Treats to our early childhood educators this Teachers' Day. It reinforces the government's recognition and commitment to the well-being of our preschool educators."
