  • Las Vegas, NV-AZ (1888PressRelease) June 12, 2012 - Adopt a Rescue Pet will launch its Change for Canines initiative on Monday, June 11 in conjunction with Just One Day-a national animal welfare movement working towards preventing euthanasia amongst healthy and adoptable animals.

In order to help in the struggle to find displaced pets a home, ARP will seek funds to build a no-kill sanctuary and canine retirement ranch. This space will allow pet-seekers to connect with animals, which will allow the possibility to increase the pet adoption rate within Southern Nevada.

"Displaced and homeless animals are in a dire situation, especially within Southern Nevada communities where we have seen an increase of displaced and homeless pets due to the spiraling local economy," says Elizabeth Davis-Rubin, founder of ARP. "Sponsorships and contributions to build and organize a no-kill sanctuary are necessary to help aid the voiceless animals in need of care and help."

Currently, Adopt A Rescue Pet aids up to 375 animals in various local housing facilities, until permanent structures can be constructed on the property where ARP hopes to build a permanent sanctuary. Depending on the Funds for Furry Friends initiative, construction for the safe haven is planned to begin in late fall.

The ARP online fundraising campaign, along with the Just One Day movement, joins animal shelters and communities across the United States that have taken a pledge not to kill any savable animals on June 11.

For Just One Day, across the USA euthanasia technicians will put down lethal syringes and use cameras instead. Other organizations will assist by marketing animals for adoption, reaching out to rescue groups, hosting adoption events with discounted rates, extending business hours of operation, and asking communities to help by emptying shelters without the need to execute innocent companion animals.
