  • (1888PressRelease) April 27, 2012 - NewSat , which is expected to launch its own Ka band satellite in 2014, will join leading offshore technology providers and energy giants at this year's Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston. The annual event will be attended by some of the world's leading technology providers for extracting, gas exploration, mining and engineering operations. NewSat will be represented by Vice President Tom Wright and Senior Director (America) Diego Paldao, who is also the Secretary of the Society of Satellite Professionals International.

Considered as one of the most credible conferences and trade shows in the energy, gas, mining and engineering industries, the OTC supports the growth of emerging players by facilitating the exchange of market insights, technological awareness and networking opportunities. Every year, the OTC attracts industry gurus who share their best practices along with technology providers which showcase their groundbreaking innovations.

Wright and Paldao will orient the community of the improved Ka band satellite communications capacity awaiting the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and other high-growth regions. Oil exploration and mining companies have long been relying on satellite communications services for their critical telecommunications needs. The Jabiru Satellite Communications program of NewSat is poised to mitigate the lack of reliable wireless communications services due to limited availability of cell sites and lack of cost-efficient spectrum for cellular communications in key markets. The construction of the first of the 5 Jabiru satellites is in progress and is expected to be finished by 2014.

The OTC started in 1969 and has now grown into a stellar conference and trade event for offshore technology innovators. The 2012 OTC will be held mostly held at Reliant Park in Houston, Texas from April 30 to May 3. Key events include the Astros Baseball game, topical lunches and breakfasts, technology exhibits, technical discussions and the Annual ATC Dinner, to be held at George R. Brown Convention Center.

Attendees are welcome to schedule a meeting with Mr Wright and Mr. Paldao in Houston. Visit NewSat's website for more information, or call +61 3 9674 4644.
