  • (1888PressRelease) November 23, 2010 - The primary scenery, the stoic serenity of the cliffs and beaches of the Dead Sea, and the hypnotizing clear blue water - have never seen such a view: a convoy of 120 Harley Davidson motorcycles, lengthening over two miles with a roar calling to vote for the Dead Sea in the New 7 wonders campaign.

Bikers rode all the way along the Dead Sea from north to south and back, and stopped on the way to form the shape of the figure 7.

"This looks like a film" said one of the tourists at the Dead Sea - "Dozens of gigantic bikes making their way".
"We're here to wake up whoever hasn't voted yet" said reserves general Udi Adam - a Harley Davidson rider, and one of the journey initiators. "This was only a warm up ride. At the beginning of June we intend to have the big ride for the Dead Sea with over 1000 riders".

The Dead Sea, together with, among others, the Amazon River, the Galapagos Islands, the Grand Canyon, the Great Barrier Reef and the Maldives has advanced to the finals by beating 440 other natural sites in the earlier stages of the campaign.  Based on the results of the previous New7Wonders campaign, tourism to the Dead Sea and the entire Middle East is expected to increase by hundreds of percentage points in the event that the Dead Sea is among the seven winning sites, to be announced at the finals on 11.11.11.

The Tourism Ministry, which is the official Supporting Committee for the Dead Sea, is promoting the Dead Sea voting via its 14 offices overseas, its website in 11 languages and in a multi-faceted international marketing campaign that includes social media. The ministry is calling upon all Israelis and fans of the Dead Sea around the world to act as ambassadors for the Dead Sea, to vote for the site and help promote voting in their communities.

The Dead Sea is one of the finalists in the Seven Natural Wonders of the World campaign.
